Marianna Grynchuk was born in Ukraine
and came to Australia when she was 8. She is now 16 and is a student of
Gabriella Smart and Eleonora Sivan. Marianna started piano at the age of 5. Since then she has won numerous prizes in the Adelaide Eisteddfods including the Dulcie Holland Medallion in 2003 and the Miriam Hyde Medallion in 2005 and 2006. In 2007, Marianna received the Single Studies Scholarship from the Elder Conservatorium of Music. Marianna was a finalist of the 6th and 8th Yamaha Piano Competitions, as well as receiving the Metropolitan Male Choir Scholarship in 2005. That same year, Marianna received 2nd prize in the Inaugural Petrof Pianoforte Competition. She was also a finalist in the 27 years and under Adelaide Recital in both 2005 and 2006. In 2006 Marianna travelled to Fremantle W.A. to participate in their 25 Years Silver Jubilee Eistedfodds where she became 1st prize winner in the Under 18 Piano Recital, as well as receiving the South Australian Music Teacher’s Association Open Miriam Hyde Award that same year. In August last year, Marianna participated in the West Gippsland Eisteddfods in Victoria and was awarded two First Prizes, in the 16 Years and Under Championship Solo and the Open Championship Solo, as well as being awarded Second Place in the Open Piano Solo. Marianna was also awarded a $300 scholarship for the Most Outstanding Pianist in the Competition. Marianna is a regular performer at lunchtime concerts at Pilgrim Church, for the Recitals Australia Lunchtime Concert Series, at the Flinders University, and at the Flinders Street Baptist Church. She has also performed solo at the Festival Theatre and the Town Hall. In 2004 Marianna received a Special Music Scholarship at Marryatville High School which she now attends, participating in various ensembles including Big Band 2 and Senior Choir, as well as actively pursuing accompanying and chamber music. Marianna has completed her Associate in Music (AMuS)
and is currently preparing for her Licentiate (LMuS). |
