This rare performance of Messiaen’s last and longest work for organ marks the 100th anniversary of the composer’s birth in association with the Pilgrim Uniting Church and the Organ Music Society of Adelaide Inc Jennifer Chou Born in Hong Kong, Jennifer started learning the organ from Samuel Tong, after graduating from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, she studied with Wolfgang Rübsam at Northwestern University and obtained a Master of Music degree and Performance Certificate with honour. Further studies in France with Susan Landale at the Conservatoire National de Région de Rueil-Malmaison where she was awarded the Prix d'Excellence and the Prix de Virtuosité à l'unanimité avec félicitations du jury. Concentrating her studies in French baroque and North German repertoire with Michel Bouvard and Jan Willem Jansen at the Centre d'Etudes Musicales Supérieures de Toulouse, she obtained the Premier Prix d'Orgue à l'unanimité at the Toulouse les Orgues International Festival. She won Mention Spéciale du jury as a finalist in the Biarritz International Organ Competition. Jennifer gave her first public organ recital in 1992. Over the years, she has performed in the US, UK, Europe, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia in venues including Notre-Dame de Paris, St Gilles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh, Westminster Abbey, St. Etienne Cathedral in Toulouse, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, St Paul's and St Patrick’s Cathedrals in Melbourne, Adelaide and Melbourne Town Hall, Sydney University, and in festivals in Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, Melbourne, and Ballarat. Her performance had been broadcasted by 3MBS and ABC Classic FM. Jennifer Chou is Director of Music at St John’s Anglican Church Camberwell in Melbourne, and she teaches the organ at the Australian Catholic University.
